Gluteal Augmentation (Buttock Enhancement)

Gluteal augmentation is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the shape and volume of the buttocks. This is a highly personalized procedure, as each patient has unique physical characteristics and body structure.

Your plastic surgeon will determine the most suitable technique to enhance the appearance of your buttocks—either through fat transfer (lipoinjection) or gluteal implants.

The Procedure.

Lipoinjection is ideal for patients who prefer to avoid implants. To be a candidate for this method, you must have sufficient fat tissue in areas such as the abdomen and hips. The procedure begins with two strategically placed incisions in the abdomen and hip regions to extract fat, which is then processed (centrifuged) and injected into the buttocks.

If gluteal implants are chosen, a small incision—approximately 5 centimeters—is made along the gluteal cleft to insert the implants between the muscles. This placement ensures natural-looking results without visible scarring. During the preoperative consultation, the appropriate implant volume is determined to achieve a balanced and aesthetically pleasing outcome that aligns with the patient’s expectations.

After Surgery.

It is essential to wear a specialized compression garment to keep the implants in place or to help shape the buttocks appropriately. In cases where lipoinjection is performed, patients are advised to sleep face down during the first week of recovery and to avoid sitting on hard surfaces. It is also important to refrain from lifting heavy objects, engaging in physical exercise, and exposing the surgical area to direct sunlight (e.g., beaches or swimming pools).
